Cellist Maria Ahn is the visionary guiding force behind the unique voice of Ahn Trio. Ahn Trio has released 7 critically acclaimed albums on EMI Classics, SONY & Warner, respectively, and is in high demand for performances as well as master classes and workshops worldwide. Dubbed “Classical revolutionaries” by New York Newsday, Maria and her trio are constantly pursuing cutting edge projects by commissioning original works from composers ranging from Pat Metheny, Michael Nyman, Maurice Jarre, Mark O'Connor to Kenji Bunch and DJ Spooky. Their chamber music collaborations with diverse and eclectic art forms have won rave reviews worldwide.  In 2003, they were selected by People Magazine as three of the "50 Most Beautiful People" and trio has been featured in VOGUE, GQ, VISIONAIRE, Glamour, TIME and appeared in ads for GAP and Anne Klein, and in the process, photographed by Arthur Elgort, Ellen von Unwerth, Patrick Demarchelier and Walter Chin, to name a few. 

Ahn Trio's passionate dedication for the arts education, firmly planted while working with the Lincoln Center Institute and Aspen Music Festival's educational outreach programs early in their careers has led to trio's focus in building and nurturing numerous residencies and outreach programs and Maria currently teaches cello at the Harlem School of the Arts in NYC and is the String Department's Chair.

Ahn Trio also has performed at the prestigious TED conference and was the only classical group to be invited to perform at the iTunes Festival in the UK.  In 2011, the trio had the honor of being invited to perform at the White House for the Obamas.  With Ahn Trio, Maria has performed in all fifty states and around the globe.
